Basic Project Management Course (2 Days)

This is an introductory course in project management spanning two days, aimed at individuals who currently have or are about to take on a project management role.

As a participant, you will gain parameters to define and communicate a project effectively. You will also acquire knowledge and have the opportunity to practice various methods and tools for planning, monitoring, and evaluating projects. The idea is that you will apply these concepts to an ongoing or planned project of your own.

You are expected to “bring” a current or planned project to apply the acquired knowledge and methods.

Extent:

The course is structured over two consecutive days. Preliminary Program:

Day 1 (9:00 AM - 4:00 PM)

  • Introduction and participant/project inventory
  • Project definitions and useful models
  • Scope, current state analysis, purpose, quality, and objectives

Day 2 (9:00 AM - 4:00 PM)

  • Activity planning
  • Competence and organization
  • Financial implications and follow-up
  • Leading in a project

Prior knowledge

The course is intended for those who currently have or are about to take on a project management role at SLU.
