Johannes Forkman

Min tjänst tillhör SLU Fältforsk, som har uppdraget att utveckla och samordna svensk fältforskning inom jordbruksområdet. SLU Fältforsk tillhör organisatoriskt Institutionen för växtproduktionsekologi. Därmed har jag daglig kontakt med forskare och doktorander vid Institution för växtproduktionsekologi, men jag har också mycket kontakt med andra institutioner på SLU och med externa organisationer, till exempel Jordbruksverket och Hushållningssällskapet. Jag ger konsultationer, förutsatt att frågorna gäller statistiska metoder för fältförsök.
Vid Institutionen för växtproduktionsekologi är jag studierektor för forskarutbildningen och därmed även biträdande prefekt.
Många grundläggande statistiska metoder, till exempel variansanalysen, utvecklades ursprungligen för jordbruksförsök. Trots att statistik för jordbruksförsök är ett klassiskt område inom statistiken utvecklas hela tiden nya metoder, och ämnet är stort. Det tillhör mitt arbete att följa metodutvecklingen och sprida ny kunskap bland forskare som utför fältförsök. Jag forskar också själv inom området.
Jag ger doktorandkursen Statistics II: Analysis of experiments using mixed-effects models. Ungefär en gång om året ger jag en kortkurs i grundläggande försöksstatistik, som riktar sig till personer som arbetar med fältförsök.
Resultat från svenska fältförsök: sortförsök, växtskyddsförsök, jordbearbetningsförsök, etc., lagras i en databas. Fältforsk samarbetar med Danmark och Norge om en gemensam skandinavisk databas: Nordic Field Trial System (NFTS). Denna databas tillhandahåller statistiska resultat, vilket jag har arbetat mycket med.
Jag studierektor för forskarutbildningen på Institutionen för växtproduktionsekologi och därmed även biträdande prefekt.

Forskning
Min avhandling handlade om experimentell design i icke-linjär regression och statistisk inferens för variationskoefficienten. Numera forskar jag om statistiska metoder för jordbruksförsök. Jag är särskilt intresserad av design och statistisk analys av experiment, samt linjära blandade modeller. Som konsult är jag involverad i forskning i plant-och markvetenskap.
Bakgrund
Jag studerade statistik vid Lunds universitet och matematik vid Uppsala universitet. I tolv år arbetade jag som statistiker på nuvarande Thermo Fisher Scientific i Uppsala. Kortare perioder har jag arbetat på Statisticon AB som statistisk konsult, och på Stockholms universitet som lektor i statistik. Jag disputerade 2008 i biometri med inriktning statistik/matematisk statistik vid Institutionen för energi och teknik, SLU. Sedan 2011 är jag lektor i statistik, och sedan 2014 är jag docent i biometri.
Handledning
Jag har varit huvudhandledare för två doktorander i biometri, samt biträdande handledare för tre doktorander i växtodlingslära och en doktorand i biologi.
