Supervision lunch seminar - Doctoral researchers' voices on scholarly publishing and supervisors (In English)

Scholarly publishing is an imperative for modern scholars, and doctoral researchers are increasingly expected or encouraged to publish during candidature. This has introduced both challenges and opportunities, as well as changes to the dynamics of supervisor/student relationships. In this seminar, I will share relevant findings from Australian research that has centred the voices of doctoral students, including what they want from supervisors, and how supervisors have impacted their academic journeys (for better or worse).

Shannon Mason is associate professor in education at Nagasaki University, Japan. Her research interests focus on the lived experiences of doctoral and early career researchers and how they navigate the processes and politics of academia.
