Mikaela Bergenius Nord

Presentation
Currently, I am the project leader for a large SLU Aqua project, commissioned to follow up on the effects of a relocated trawl boarder on the Baltic Sea's ecosystem, on behalf of the Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management.
Since 2013, I have been a member of the ICES Baltic Fisheries Assessment Working Group (WGBFAS), for which I also served as Chair from 2020 to 2022. My current primary role within the group is as the lead stock assessor for herring in the central Baltic Sea.
I am also a member of the management advisory group at the institute, where we provide scientific advice to the Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management and other authorities. I am primarily responsible for providing scientific advice regarding pelagic fish in the Baltic Sea.
I am committed to incorporating the latest advances in stock assessment methodologies and ecosystem research to drive progress toward more ecosystem-based fisheries management advice. I have a strong interest in ensuring that new scientific findings are applied throughout the entire process, from data collection to management advice and policymaking.
