At this project, different parameters were calculated and by a machine learning method to estimate pine tree defoliation caused by pest. A surprising result was that the point density could be the most powerful and simple parameters to achieve that. The uneven point density from single-scan TLS caused problem, but with a new voxelization method, it can also help a lot to derive information more fast and easily. The distribution of the point cloud from single-scan TLS is quite characteristic, and how to use it subtly is still an interesting topic.

At the seminar PhD student Langning Huo will tell you more about the project.

Welcome!
