Navigating the complex curriculum in doctoral education

Many doctoral programmes find its curricula being pulled in different directions. At the same time, doctoral researchers, their supervisors and institutional leaders often find themselves caught in the middle of conflicting expectations. Doctoral researchers are expected to create original knowledge within their discipline, develop transferrable skills and competences for a professional career (often outside academia), and solve immediate practical issues in local or national contexts. This workshop focuses on the implications for doctoral supervision and pedagogy.
