Slunik is being discontinued

Slunik will be closed for input on August 13, 2025 and will be decommissioned by the end of the year.

Slunik is a proprietary system that was built in the early 2000s to function as a course platform where course management could inform and communicate with both prospective and active students. Slunik corresponded to today's course page, the learning platform Canvas and course evaluations.

Over time, the functions in Slunik have been replaced by other solutions. Today, only the course schedule and the field "Info from the course leader" are active in Slunik. These are displayed on the course page on the web.

Schedule moves to Canvas.

The overall schedule will no longer be displayed on the course pages on the web but will be available via the course's Canvas room.

There is already a schedule button, linked to timeEdit, on the start page in the Canvas template. The Timeedit schedule contains the facilities booked for the course. These can easily be supplemented with other activities via a direct link in Canvas to the course event's timeedit schedule.

Information from the course leader moves to Ladok

"Information from the course leader" is displayed on the course page and is an opportunity for the course management to communicate with prospective students before they are admitted.

Now that Slunik is being discontinued, the text entry is moving to Ladok, but "Information from the course leader" will continue to be displayed on the course page. In Ladok, the text is at the course event level.

To enter the text in Ladok, the authorization level "SLU Administrator institution" or "SLU Course leader" is required. This is the same authorization required to enter a literature list or course team.

The grading criteria have moved into Canvas.

Starting with the fall semester 2023, grading criteria will not be displayed on the course page. The grading criteria should instead be in Canvas. See the Education planning and administration handbook, section 7.1

If you have already entered grading criteria for the course session in Slunik. They are no longer editable, but you can copy the text, make changes, and then paste them into Canvas.

Contact utb-system@slu.se if you want to remove existing text for grading criteria in Slunik.

Changes in Slunik June 1, 2022

The course reading list is created and updated in Ladok. 

The reading list appears as before on the course page on the web. Previously created reading lists are displayed in Slunik but can no longer be edited. In Slunik you can copy the text, make changes and then paste it into Ladok. Then the new text will replace the text from Slunik.
