Terminating your employment

An employee must always resign in writing. The employer and employee may agree on a shorter (or longer) notice period than those listed below.

When an employee resigns, the following notice periods apply (in accordance with agreements):

Employment period    Notice period
max. 1 year 1 month
more than 1 year   2 months

The employment period refers to how long you have been employed by the Swedish Government. 


Please use the form “Employee resignation” on the Forms page. Complete and sign the form, and submit it to your manager.
