Vinnova - a government agency under the Ministry of Enterprise and Innovation
Vinnova is a government agency under the Ministry of Enterprise and Innovation with a mission to build Sweden’s innovation capacity. Vinnova identify areas of development for different initiatives and create opportunities and incentives for organisations to work together to meet important societal challenges. Vinnova invests about SEK 3 billion in research and innovation annually.
Vinnova is a national contact authority for the EU framework programme for research and innovation (Horizon 2020). Each program theme has a National Contact Point (person) who can help and guide those who wish to participate in Horizon 2020. The contact persons are primarily at Vinnova, but also at the Swedish Research Council - All contact persons for Horizon Europe.
Vinnova funds research and innovation projects and can also fund feasibility studies for research and innovation projects, and provide support to SMEs. Vinnova only provides funding to organisations, and usually it is a requirement that projects involve several partners. Funding opportunities are advertised through various calls. The call specifies the types of organisations that can apply for grants. All calls are published on Vinnova's website.

Co-funding
For universities Vinnova allows that charges for indirect costs, caused by the Vinnova-grant according to university rules, are covered by the Vinnova-grant. A co-funding need to indirect costs, in grants from Vinnova, will therefore not occur for SLU.
On the other hand some Vinnova calls can have a demand on co-funding of direct costs (including charges). In such cases co-funding can be possible according to SLU´s guidelines for co-funding.
