Systematic quality assurance at SLU
SLU’s systematic quality assurance aims to ensure and enhance quality across the university’s core activities – research, education and environmental assessment – through a coherent and systematic approach. The foundations of this systematic quality assurance are set out in the policy for a cohesive quality system and systematic quality assurance at SLU.
Systematic quality assurance across SLU’s different areas of activity
The systematic quality assurance is designed to ensure that SLU’s research, education and environmental assessment are of a high standard and are continually developed. This is achieved through shared working methods, clear distribution of responsibilities and regular follow-up, ensuring compliance with legislation, standards and SLU’s goals.
KoN 2027 - an external evaluation of research and environmental monitoring and assessment
KoN2027 is a future-oriented research evaluation at SLU aimed at identifying opportunities for development. It builds on previous evaluations but is fully integrated into SLU’s systematic quality assurance framework and includes external assessment.
The evaluation is conducted at the department level, as quality assurance is based on line management. Each department is evaluated based on its own conditions and needs, making the process flexible and tailored to different operational profiles.
More information about SLU’s systematic quality assurance
SLU’s quality system is described at an overarching level in the Policy for a cohesive quality system and systematic quality assurance at SLU. The policy is intended to ensure that quality assurance and quality development in research, education and environmental assessment at SLU are based on shared principles. It also aims to clarify roles and responsibilities and to ensure that links between the different areas of activity are fully utilised. The work is carried out at several levels of the organisation and involves both staff and students.
The systematic quality assurance work at SLU is characterised by:
-
regular reviews with both internal and external peer involvement;
-
continual follow-up at course, programme, department and faculty levels;
-
feedback and improvement activities as a basis for development;
-
collaboration with the wider society as an integral component;
-
clear documentation and communication of results and processes.
Through annual dialogues with the vice-chancellor and specific quality plans for each activity area, SLU ensures that its quality assurance work is fit for purpose, transparent and quality-driven. SLU’s systematic quality assurance is intended to meet both internal and external expectations and to contribute to the strong and sustainable development of the university’s activities.
