In the talk Cormac McGrath will present the good the bad and the ugly of AI focusing on inevitabilities of AI, how universities can respond to the threats and affordances of AI. The presentation will also address the emergence of generative AI in the Higher education sector.

Following the keynote on Day 2, we will have a panel discussion with both keynote speakers- Kelsey Doerksen and Cormac McGrath, together with Per Sandin, SLU Associate Professor in Philosophy and board member of the Swedish Ethical Review Authority.
During the panel discussion, we will explore further the implications for the future of education with AI from different perspectives.

Statistical literacy in the ChatGPT era.
Large language models (LLMs) like ChatGPT can do many of the task we usually ask students in basic statistics to do. How is teaching and learning statistics influenced by the easy availability of LLMs and how does it relate to students’ motivation? In this talk, we look at the current status and speculate on what the future might hold.

Utveckling av hållberhets-kompetenser hos studenter – hur gör vi det i programmet?
Med den ökande global medvetenhet om hållbarhetsutmaningar ställs ingenjörsbranschen inför krav på att utbilda framtidens yrkesverksamma med starka hållbarhetsperspektiv. Vi kommer att presentera några exempel på hur vi arbetar med dessa frågor, bl.a. genom att ha hållbarhetsstrimmor i utbildningen. Målet med denna diskussion är att inspirera varandra i arbetet att skapa en sammanhängande progression av hållbarhetsrelaterade kunskaper och färdigheter i våra respektive utbildningar.

3d. Utanför boxen – en kreativ workshop om att våga utmana det självklara

Utanför boxen – en kreativ workshop om att våga utmana det självklara (ca 45 min)
Att våga gå utanför det kända är en viktig del i arbetet inom arkitektur och design. I den här workshopen kommer vi att använda skissen, både på papper och i modell, som arbetsredskap för att ge form åt tankar och idéer. Passet handlar om själva skapandeprocessen. Om betydelsen av att göra fel, att pröva osäkra idéer och att förstå vad man lär sig av att inte ta snabbaste vägen mot ett förutbestämt mål.

Passet inleds med en kort översikt av hur generativ AI kan användas inom högre utbildning. Därefter följer presentationer av de juridiska aspekterna samt hur SLU tänker kring vilka AI-programvaror/tjänster som vi kan/får använda. Passet avslutas med möjlighet till diskussion och frågestund.
