Episode 28- Key insights into doctoral supervision from Gitte Wichmann Hansen
In this episode, we explore doctoral supervision in the Nordic university context, following the recent Nordic Conference on PhD Supervision (CoPhS).
We invited Professor Gitte Wichmann Hansen, an expert in doctoral supervision, and two experienced educational developers to discuss some of the key questions and challenges surrounding doctoral supervision.
Together, they reflect on how supervision can be adapted to doctoral students with diverse backgrounds, how to balance guidance with independence, and the importance of supervisors as role models.
They also discuss expectations, fear of failure, self-efficacy, and the boundaries between supporting students' well-being and taking on a therapeutic role.
Join us for a conversation about the challenges and possibilities of doctoral supervision today!
