Who decides on scholarship awards?

The committee for scholarships, prizes and awards decides who are awarded scholarships (apart from the two independent foundations that have their own boards).

How do I apply for a scholarship at SLU?

Reachmee is used to apply for scholarships.

How are scholarship funds paid out?

The foundation administration at SLU handles all payments from scholarship funds.

How long is the usual call period for a scholarship fund?

The call period is usually one month.

Can you apply for funding from more than one scholarship fund?

Yes, you can.

Why are there such specific criteria for certain scholarship funds?

What is written in the statutes for the scholarship funds must be followed. Many funds are also nearly a hundred years old.

How long will it take before the scholarship funds are paid out?

It's difficult to give an exact time frame. The foundation administration at

SLU makes all payments from the scholarship funds and their workload governs how quickly the payments are made.

Can employees of SLU apply for travel scholarships for a visit to a higher education institution in another country?

If you are a PhD student, you can apply for a travel scholarship.

How frequently can I apply for scholarship funds?

The foundations usually distribute funds once a year. There are exceptions, of course.

Is it possible to apply for scholarships at any time of the year?

It is only possible to apply for scholarships when the foundation is open for applications, i.e., during a call for applications.

How and when will I find out if I have received a scholarship?

Everyone, both those who have been awarded and those who have not been awarded the scholarship will be notified via the email address provided in the application. We prefer that you use your SLU email address.

Can I get advance notice?

No, it is not possible to be notified before the decision has been sent out.

What happens if I can't get to the conference or similar that I've received the scholarship for?

A travel scholarship is awarded for a specific activity. The basic rule is that the scholarship must be returned/paid back to the foundation. Also always contact the scholarship committee at stipendiekommitte-sfak@slu.se if your trip or activity is cancelled.

Can I get a subsistence allowance?

No, the SLU-affiliated foundations do not have any employed staff, so subsistence allowances are never paid from these. Subsistence allowances are reimbursements that an employer can pay out to an employee for business travel.

What funds may a foundation distribute?

Most SLU-affiliated foundations pay grants only from earnings. This means that only earnings may be distributed, but not other capital in the foundation.
