Paper selection
SLU uses paper as a medium for both external and internal communication. From an environmental and climate perspective, most types of paper on the market have been tested and evaluated. The technical performance of the various grades has been taken into account when selecting SLU’s standard papers.
To qualify for the Nordic Swan Ecolabel and FSC certification, certain paper criteria must be met. SLU therefore recommends the following paper types:
- Wood-free coated paper: Arctic the Matt, produced by Grycksbo Bruk in Dalarna.
- Wood-free uncoated paper: Munken Polar and Munken Polar Rough, produced by Munkedals Bruk in Bohuslän.
These papers were selected because they:
- have good technical properties
- meet the requirements for FSC and Nordic Swan certification (provided the printer is certified)
- are cost-effective
- have low climate impact
- are produced in Sweden, minimising transport distances to the printing house.
