What to think about when processing personal data in connection with online teaching, especially if you record lectures.
If you use or co-operate with another party to process personal data, you must know in which country the other party is based. This page contains recommendations from SLU’s legal counsel and other important information on the transfer of personal data.
As a public authority, SLU has a responsibility to prevent the improper processing of personal data. Our IT systems and procedures need to take the GDPR into account. If SLU violates the GDPR, we negatively affect citizens' rights and risk penalties but also damage to the SLU brand.
We have a better chance of avoiding these issues if we all have basic knowledge of the rules on personal data processing. That is why we have developed a basic data protection course to help you learn more about the GDPR and how to work with it.
The course consists of 6 lessons and takes 3-5 minutes per lesson. The course is automatically sent out to all staff, including new employees. The emails with the lessons are sent from SLU's training platform Nanolearning. The sender address of the message is therefore external (course@nanolearning.com).
Please contact data protection at dataskydd@slu.se if you have any questions about the email.
In order to send out the lessons, the name and e-mail address of employees are processed. Data on the time taken to complete the lessons, and the courses completed, are also processed. Administrators can see which department an employee belongs to. This data is processed in order to monitor the effectiveness of the training. The legal basis for the processing is public interest. Read more about how SLU processes your personal data.
