VH's faculty board on 24th of March
Notes from VH's faculty board on 24th of March
The board decided to start recruiting a senior lecturer in bioinformatics. The need has been identified and the head of the Department of Animal Genetics (HGEN) submitted an application before the board's meeting.
A decision was also made to propose clinical sciences (KV) to employ Ylva Persson from SVA as an adjunct lecturer in pet reproduction.
The staff survey
Rauni presented the result where VH has a response rate of 76% (SLU 79%). For the various components of the employee index; work climate, leadership, organisation and visions / goals, all parts have a clear positive trend with rising numbers.
It was very gratifying to read that there are more people than before who would recommend SLU as a workplace and a university to study at. Here, VH ends up in the top three in Sweden in terms of average results for Swedish universities.
Margareta said that SLU has the collaboration assignments under the microscope right now. A change that is imminent is that SLU will change the term senior lecturer and the person with the assignment will be called a collaborator. All new assignments that are added will be limited in time and this opens up the opportunity for many more to apply for these assignments. Each faculty has been asked to submit proposals for new collaboration assignments.
Competence for the future
Dirk-Jan de Koning presented a compilation of the competence supply work that the faculty board carried out in January. The aim of the work is to ensure that the faculty has the skills needed for undergraduate education and research to achieve the strategic goals. The department will continue to submit a request for new recruitment / re-employment, as it does today, but will need to take into account the faculty's competence supply strategy. The work is now in an intensive phase. In the next step, the faculty management will talk to heads of department.
