Malin Hultberg

Teaching
I am responsible for the microbiology teaching which focus on interactions between plants and microorganisms. I also take part in several other courses as lecturer on plant pathogenic bacteria, on food microbiology and on water treatment. Every year I supervise and examine several theses and participate in Ph. D. education both as a tutor and in examinations.
Research
My expertise is in the use of microorganisms such as microalgae and fungi from a production perspective. Together with plant physiologists I also work with issues related to plant production and currently we focus on how we can use organic nutrient sources in production systems for plants and mushrooms. The emphasis is on resource-efficient and sustainable production systems. I am also interested in bioremediation processes and how nutrients can captured while producing interesting metabolites such as fatty acids and proteins.
Cooperation
I hold a position as a collaborations specialist in horticulture. In collaboration between SLU, the horticultural industry and other stakeholders I therefore work for a sustainable food production, made visible for the consumer, in the intensive cropping systems that are typical of horticulture
