Our gingerbread baking competition for students and employees in the SLU building in Umeå is now finalized. The Winners 2023 has been designated: Laura Saggiomo and Faith Jones with their contribution “Tomtars Winter Forest Getaway"- and the motivation from the jury is the following: "The contribution breathes creative joy, is inventive and imaginative with lots of fairytale atmosphere. The bakers have used props in creative ways, such as a fire made of jelly candy. Plus points are also given for decorating the inside of the house. A wonderful Northern house where Santa and the elves can relax with ice baths and ax throwing."

What is the competition about?

The competition consists of baking a gingerbread house, or a work of art, or any other creation made of gingerbread - which is then exhibited in booths during a voting week. The winning entry is selected partly by voting and partly with the help of an "expert jury".

ATTENTION! Participation in the competition is completely voluntary and baking takes place in your spare time.

COMPETITION SETUP

Register

Registration was open between November 15th-30th.

What should the gingerbread creation look like?

Here we leave free space for your creativity; you can design your contribution exactly as you want, as a house, as a work of art, as a plant, a unicorn - well, only your imagination sets the limits. The requirements are that the frame of the creation must be made of gingerbread dough - and everything in the construction itself must be edible (even decorations). Ready-made gingerbread houses are therefore not allowed, but it is fine to make them from purchased gingerbread dough. String lights and other types of lighting are ok. When it comes to decorating the tray on which the creation stands, it is also ok to use non-edible material. Figures inside and outside the houses/creations also do not have to be edible (but may be).

The houses/creations can be made in any size - small or large, all contributions are welcome!
