Researchdata.se – Sweden’s new portal for research data

Published: 25 March 2025

Today, 25 March, marks the launch of Researchdata.se, a new national web portal designed to make it easier for researchers to find, share, and reuse research data across various disciplines.

Researchdata.se has been developed over two years by the Swedish National Data Service (SND) in collaboration with several research infrastructures and organisations in the field of research data (e.g. Bolin Centre for Climate Research, Huminfra, InfraVis, NBIS, SBDI/GBIF, SciLifeLab, SITES and Swedigarch). The creation of Researchdata.se is part of the work to achieve the EU's and the Swedish government's goal of open access to publicly funded research data from 2026.

– Researchdata.se is a major step towards a future where Open Science is the norm. The portal not only simplifies open access to research data, but also serves as a shared space for collaboration, innovation, and sustainable data management in Sweden. We will continue to develop Researchdata.se in close collaboration with our partners and the research community to enhance research quality, transparency, and long-term societal benefits, says Eva Stensköld, Director of Swedish National Data Service

Data can be made available via SND in the same way as before

Many SLU staff use SND to share data, both from research and environmental monitoring and assessment, and this is still possible in the same way as before. The difference is that the datasets can now be found in the new portal, which also contains descriptions of research data from SITES, SciLifeLab, NBIS, GBIF and SBDI, among others. On Researchdata.se, the datasets are presented in a slightly different way than before, but the content is the same and all links should still work.

SLU is involved in running SND

SND is a national infrastructure that helps researchers make all types of digital research data available. SLU is one of the universities that is part of the consortium that runs SND. Participation in SND takes place through the Data Management Support department at the SLU University Library.
