Internal process for Forma's call

Published: 28 April 2020

Internal process for Forma's call - Centers for sustainable and competitive food-systems. Earlier in April, Formas opened a call aimed at financing 2-3 Center with focus on sustainable and competitive food-systems.

Interdisciplinary initiatives in collaboration between academia, business and other social actors are invited to propose how we can respond to challenges within the food- systems. This is of course a good opportunity for SLU's research environments to show the breadth and strength of the competence we possess within this field.

Swedish higher education institutions may propose two initiatives. The Vice-Chancellor decides which applications to submit. This means that an internal selection will need to take place among the proposals presented by research groups at SLU. This will be done by inviting interested groups to submit concept notes (see link to template below) which briefly describes the proposals, what challenges/needs that are addressed, what the concrete outcomes could be, and what a competitive constellation of actors could look like.

The proposals will be assessed by an external group of actors in the food system (from both business and government) and assess which ideas are most relevant to sustainable and competitive food-systems in relation to the call. The Vice-Chancellor then decides which two proposals are given the opportunity to develop their ideas. The selected proposals will be given an assignment to form suitable constellations of actors, academia within and outside SLU, as well as external collaboration partners, and develop complete applications.

Template for concept note can be downloaded here.

Timetable:

May 12 – Concept notes are sent to the division of planning (niklas.nordquist@slu.se)
May 20 – The two selected proposals are notified
September 3 - Deadline for application to Formas.
