The National Forest Inventory and the Unit for Forest Field Research awarded a prize for societal collaboration
During the Faculty of Forest Sciences’ Faculty Days, held on November 20–21, 2024, the Unit for Forest Field Research and the National Forest Inventory were awarded a prize for collaboration with the surrounding society. Ola Langvall from the Unit and Cornelia Roberge from the National Forest Inventory took the stage to receive the award.
The National Forest Inventory and the Unit for Forest Field Research have, for over a century, collected data to enhance knowledge about Swedish forests. During their 100-year anniversary, citizens from all walks of life were drawn to the exhibition ”Hur många träd finns det i skogen”. The film ”En skog av siffror” illustrated, among other things, how the needs for forest resources have changed over a century. The books ”Sveriges skogar under 100 år, Riksskogstaxeringen 1923-2023” and ”Skogliga försöksparker och fältförsök” received significant attention. The National Forest Inventory’s delivery of forestry data and the Unit for Forest Field Research’s long-term field trials form the foundation for decision-making regarding Swedish forests.
