Three-spined stickleback have recently increased in many coastal areas of the Baltic Sea. Three-spined sticklebacks compete for food with other fish, and can also feed on their eggs and larvae. Does this pose a threat to the populations of coastal predatory fish such as pike and perch?
The question will be addressed by researchers from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) within the Kvarken Flada project, whose main partners are LUKE Naturresursinstitutet Finland, County Municipality of Västerbotten, Parks & Wildlife Finland and ELY-Centre of Ostrobothnia.
