Tommy Lundgren

Tommy Lundgren
Professor of Resource Economics and Director of the Centre of Environmental & Resource Economics (www.cere.se).

Presentation

After his dissertation Tommy has been active at SLU and Umeå University with periods abroad at UC Berkeley (US), Calgary University (CA ) and the University of Otago (NZ). He was appointed Associate Professor at the School of Business, Economics and Statistics, Umeå University, 2007, and guest professor in 2012 at the same school (Department of Economics). Tommy's research has been praised a number of times, such as the Skytteanska society's award to younger researchers in 2004, the Globe award (best CSR research) and Nordea's scientific award in 2017. Between 2012 and 2018, Tommy was the Scientific Secretary at the Center for Environmental & Resource Economics (CERE ), a center formation founded in 2009 on Umeå Campus where researchers from both SLU and Umeå University are included. Since the fall of 2020, Tommy is the Scientific Director of CERE.

Teaching

Lundgren's teaching experience covers all levels, from introductory economics courses to phd level education in his field of specialization. 

Research

Tommy Lundgren's research is mainly focused on applied policy analysis related to the environment, natural resources, and energy use. Main areas of research are; i) assessing the impacts of climate policy on the industrial firm, ii) the economics and measurement of corporate environmental responsibility, and iii) issues related to forests, bioenergy and the climate. Currently he is running projects analyzing industrial energy use; employments effects of the green transition; and forest bioenergy production and impact on ecosystem services.
