Rajneesh Gautam
My research focuses on in-situ treatment of per-and polyfluorinated alkyl substances (PFAS) using air-bubbling/air-sparging.

Presentation

I am a postdoctoral researcher specializing in environmental and analytical chemistry within SLU’s Department of Aquatic Sciences and Assessment. With a background in Chemical Engineering, my professional focus centers on addressing challenges pertinent to industrial wastewater treatment, particularly within slaughterhouse and food processing facilities. Previously, I conducted extensive research on the Submerged Anaerobic Membrane Bioreactor system coupled with ceramic ultrafiltration flat-sheet membrane for high-strength wastewater treatment. I recently developed a keen interest in novel remediation methods, specifically focusing on in-situ PFAS remediation.

My specific research activities include:

  • Developing and experimenting with novel remediation technologies aimed at mitigating PFAS contamination in both soil and groundwater, spanning from controlled laboratory settings to real-world field applications.
  • Developing numerical models to understand the mechanism of PFAS remediation using in-situ techniques for optimization and enhanced performance.
  • Utilizing liquid chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) for screening and analysis.

Teaching

  • Project Management
  • Sewage Treatment and Disposal Engineering
  • Water Treatment Engineering
  • Advanced Design of Hydraulic Structures

Cooperation

Stakeholders of my research include environmental scientists, academics, researchers, industry experts, and environment regulatory authorities.
