About The Unit for Data Management Guidance and Development

The mission of the Unit for Data Management Guidance and Development (DMGD) is to support data management within SLU's environmental analysis and to work to ensure that SLU's environmental data is managed in a good way and is openly accessible.

Support

  • Assist coordinators and project managers in preparing input for improvement projects, such as IT development projects.
  • Provide advice and recommendations to promote data harmonisation and open data
  • Some direct support for project management, business analysis and requirements management
  • Provide general advice on technical solutions to support data harmonisation.

Networking and skills development

  • Webinars, seminars and meetings to support staff working with data management in SLU's environmental analysis.
  • Good knowledge of the needs of the EMA projects, as well as the ability to provide contacts regarding technical solutions etc. used in data management at SLU.

Follow-up

DMGD is also responsible for ensuring that those involved in SLU's environmental monitoring achieve good quality in their data management. This is done by:

  • Providing guidance (the Quality Guide) on the quality requirements that each project must achieve in its data management, from collection to presentation.
  • Providing advice on how projects can map their current data management and plan and implement improvements.
  • Regularly monitoring the evolution of projects' data management over time and ensuring that the basic requirements for good data management are met.

The Unit for Data Management Guidance and Development

The Unit for Data Management Guidance and Development is part of DMS, a division of the SLU Univeristy Library that assists everyone at SLU with the management, publication and long-term preservation of research and environmental monitroing data, the creation of data management plans, and other data management issues.
