SLU is trialling a funding opportunities database - get involved

Sometimes you have a great research idea, or need funding for a PhD or postdoc, or need to pay for travel to a conference… but identifying the right funder with the right open call can be like finding a needle in a haystack. At the SLU Grants Office, we do our best to help with these types of enquiry - but, sadly, we are only human and there are far more funding calls out there than we can read and publish on the staff web! So, we have decided to try out a funding opportunities database covering several thousand funders - Pivot-RP - which is used by many universities in Sweden and internationally.

We invite you to try out Pivot-RP for the next month (up until September 12th). You can, amongst other things:

  • Browse and search for funding opportunities, with many filters and advanced search options to find calls that are most relevant for you.
  • Browse and search for calls for conference papers and special issues of journals.
  • Save your searches and have updated results automatically emailed to you.
  • Share your search results or individual calls with others - individuals or groups with shared interests.
  • Claim/create a research profile to receive automatically matched funding opportunities and suggested collaboration opportunities with other researchers.

We also have access to Research Professional News - which focuses on research policy, research funding and higher education - for the duration of the trial. You can find it via the ‘News’ tab after connecting to Pivot-RP, or going directly to the website and using your Pivot-RP login (see below) to access the restricted articles.

You can access Pivot-RP in one of two ways:

1. Username and password

  • Go to https://pivot.proquest.com
  • Click on ‘Create an account’
  • Select ‘Use an email address / Create a password’
  • Fill in your details, making sure to use your @slu.se email address, and select Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences as the Affiliated Member Institution
  • Click on ‘Create my account’
  • You will receive an email with a validation link to confirm your account registration
  • If you have trouble creating your account - please send an email to Fiona at the Grants Office (fiona.reid@slu.se)

2. IP access

  • If you are connected to the SLU network, you should be able to go directly to https://pivot.proquest.com and begin searching for funding opportunities immediately, without logging in.
  • Please note that to take advantage of the full functionality (e.g. saved searches, email alerts, personal funding matches, etc.) you must create an account, login, and claim or create a profile.
  • If you experience issues with IP access, please use the username/password method outlined above.

For help getting started with Pivot-RP, you can check out this series of short training videos on YouTube or check out this quick start guide.

At the end of the trial period, remember to keep an eye out for the follow-up survey! We need to gather your insights, which will feed into the decision-making process on whether to commit to a subscription (or not).
