Welcome to a networking symposium 2–3 October, arranged by the SLU Plant Protection Network and the SLU Forest Damage Centre for staff at SLU active in these areas. The meeting is held in Umeå.

The symposium will cover plant protection in agriculture, horticulture and forestry. Last year the symposium was held in Alnarp and around 80 researchers, technicians, postdocs and PhD students attended. This year, the meeting is moving to Umeå.

– During the first day, we will listen to several inspirational talks, have a poster session and an excursion to Skogforsk. The day ends with a dinner downtown in Umeå. On the second day, we will have more talks and a game where we discover Campus Umeå, as well as time for networking and creating new collaborations, says Katja Fedrowitz who is the coordinator for the SLU Plant Protection Network and the SLU Forest Damage Centre.

These networking days are a great opportunity to get to know other plant protection researchers at SLU, get new contacts, information on research facilities in Umeå and listen to ongoing research in the area.

Travelling and hotel

The participants book their own travel to the meeting via SLU’s travel agency. The SLU Plant Protection Network pays the travel costs for those traveling by train.

– If Umeå is not your usual place of work, we will book you into Comfort Hotel Umeå City. Depending on your travel plans you can choose to stay at the hotel one or two nights. The SLU Plant Protection Network will pay for your stay. You can also arrange your own stay if you prefer that. I hope to see many plant protection researchers at the meeting for networking and socialising!
