SLU supports the Ministry at AU-EU high-level conference on food systems

Published: 29 June 2023

The 5th African Union (AU) – European Union (EU) Agriculture Ministerial Conference takes place on 30 June in Rome, in the framework of the Africa-EU Partnership. The theme of the ministerial conference this year is “Resilient food systems and sustainable agricultural value chains”. Together with SLU, the Swedish Ministry of Rural Affairs and Infrastructure organises a side-event during the conference.

The event “Responsible investments promoting resilient food systems and food security” will be opened by the Swedish Minister for Rural Affairs, Peter Kullgren and is co-hosted by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture of the Republic of Ghana.

Several examples of successful approaches on responsible investments in agri-food systems will be presented, taking into account that challenges in food systems are often closely related to education, gender equality and infrastructure, and therefore require multi-sectoral and systemic solutions to ensure resilience. The event will provide examples from the field through the voices of smallholder farmers and entrepreneurs. We will also get perspectives from investors, research and innovation, and policymakers.
