Processing of fruits and berries will be concentrated at Campus Alnarp

Published: 21 September 2022

Plant materials are now being moved from Balsgård to Campus Alnarp in order to ensure their long-term availability for research, education, and variety development. The move is expected to continue over a three-year period.

The pooling of resources and infrastructure increases the opportunities for coordination with other parts of the activities at the Faculty of Landscape Architecture, Horticulture and Crop Production Science (LTV faculty) in plant breeding, research and education. The co-location also strengthens horticulture, which is an important focus at the faculty.

Balsgård's buildings and land adjacent to the buildings will now be sold, while the farmland will be retained. SLU's Buildings Division will continue to be the responsible authority for the farmland. When the land is not being used by SLU, it will be made available to external parties by way of lease.
