I have a DVM degree from SLU, have worked as a clinical veterinarian in Sweden and since 2007 with transboundary, foodborne and zoonotic diseases including field postings with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations animal health programmes in Lao PDR, Cambodia and the regional office for Eastern Africa, and carried out research and PhD-studies at SLU on human-animal interfaces and risk factors associated with zoonotic influenza, campylobacter and antimicrobial resistance in Southeast Asia. This was followed by an assignment as Team Leader for the FAO Emergency Centre for Transboundary Animal Diseases in Cambodia by providing support to the prevention and control of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza, other Transboundary Animal Diseases, high impact zoonotic diseases and Antimicrobial Resistance. Since 2019 I am back at SLU, working on a multi-sectoral research project on piloting on-site interventions for reducing antimicrobial use in livestock farming and for SLU Global with strenthening internal and external collaboration on antimicrobial resistance.
