Welcome to a webinar with focus on plant health and nature-based solutions in a global perspective. The webinar gathers experts from SLU, CGIAR, and international organisations who will discuss sustainable solutions for the future, as a contribution to Stockholm+50 and the UN International Day of Plant Health (12 May).
How can nature-based solutions help climate-proof smallholder plant health?
This webinar brings together scientists, policy specialists, extension experts, and farming representatives to explore how linking nature-based solutions, integrated pest management (IPM), and One Health can facilitate the design of climate-resilient plant health systems for smallholder farmers.
Talks and discussions will be held on the theme of building resilient plant health systems, and the need for ‘climate-smart’ approaches to IPM, given the increasing risks that smallholders face from pest insects, nematodes, weeds, and diseases under climate change. Special focus will be given to nature-based solutions, including related climate change threats and options for adaptation.
In posing the question ‘how can nature-based solutions help climate-proof smallholder plant health?’ the webinar will especially highlight the supports needed for practical implementation – including climate-informed advisory services, information and communication technology, and policy.
