Anne-Lie Blomström's declaration of intent

Last changed: 11 October 2021

Anne-Lie Blomström. Researcher at the Department of Biomedical Science and Veterinary Public Health

Other assignments internal/external: Apart from research and teaching (course leader, examinator, supervisor and lecturer) I am also one of the coordinators for the VH-faculty research school GS-VMAS. Outside of SLU I am presently part of the scientific reference group for covid-19 vaccine led by the Swedish vaccine coordinator. I was between 2015 – 2021 a member of the ICTV Anelloviridae Study Group.

Important future questions for the faculty: Continue working towards being an attractive work place in order to be able to recruit new highly competent co-workers as well as being able to keep present staff. From a research perspective we need e.g. clear and inclusive career paths, a broad and high-class infrastructure, a good research climate and that research time can be/is prioritized. I also believe that it is important that VH and SLU conduct and encourage basic science in addition to applied research. On the educational side it is important to ensure that increased number of students to our programmes and courses are met by increased staff, resources and teaching facilities in order to continue providing high-qualitative education.

My contributions to the faculty board: I have worked as a researcher at SLU for quite many years now and I believe I have a rather good insight in the different conditions/aspects related to this part of faculty’s activity. I have also experience from graduate and postgraduate education.

A few personal lines: I am originally from Jönköping but decided to stay in Uppsala after finishing my education. On my free time I aim to start doing some exercise but with varying results... But otherwise I like e.g. walks in nature, audio books, visits to coffee shops and restaurants as well as travel.
