Invitation to nominate members and deputies of the SLU Education Board

It is time to nominate five members and five personal deputies to SLU's Board ofEducation (UN) for the coming three years (2025-2027). Members are appointed by the vice-chancellor (rektor) based on a proposal from the SLU election committee.

The election committee therefore invites those entitled to vote to nominate members and deputies to the Board of Education by 25 October 2024.

Nominate members and personal deputies

The three-year term of office begins on 1 January 2025. The election committee submits a proposal for five members and five personal deputies to the vice-chancellor no later than 6 November.

Nominations should be sent by email to valberedning24-27@slu.se no later than 25 October.

To be eligible for nomination, the candidate must have the scientific or artistic competence referred to in Chapter 2 Section 6 of the Higher Education Act (1992:1434). The candidate must hold a doctorate unless employed in an artistic discipline, e.g. landscape architecture.

The candidate must have been asked and have accepted the nomination and be prepared to be interviewed by the election committee. The election committee will, if needed, conduct interviews with candidates via Zoom between 28 October and 1 November.

The nomin"ation must include a short description (half a page) in Swedish and English stating the reason why the nominee is running for the Board of Education and what issues they want to work with if appointed. Additionally, a short CV (one page) in English should be provided. It is possible to nominate yourself.

Facts:

The SLU Board of Education Board, established on 1 January 2014, is a university-wide body that deals with strategic issues to support, coordinate, stimulate and develop all SLU education at the undergraduate and Master's level.

The board also assigns tasks to program boards, approves programme syllabuses and guidelines and prepares decisions for the vice-chancellor and the SLU Board.

The Board of Education consists of a chair appointed by the vice-chancellor, five teachers appointed by the vice-chancellor following a proposal from the election committee, an external member appointed by the vice-chancellor after consultation with the faculty deans and three members appointed by SLU's students' unions (Sluss).

The board is currently chaired by the deputy vice-chancellor (prorektor), who will remain chair also for the next term of office. A full description can be found in Section 7 of the SLU Board's delegation of authority (appendix 1).

The vice-chancellor has approved the criteria for the composition of the Board of Education for the 2025-2027 term of office (appendix 2).
