The panel concluded that the timing of the IUFRO World Congress 2024 presents an opportunity to establish a neutral forum for dialogue and exchange among researchers and stakeholders.

On 9 of February KSLA and SLU invited to a panel dialogue about the IUFRO World Congress 2024 and the future role of forests. The purpose of the panel dialogue was to describe the road towards the congress and highlight expectations before and impact after 2024. About 100 participants representing non-profit organisations, business, research organisations and other authorities followed the constructive and respectful dialogue at KSLA or via online streaming. The wide range of experience and the different perspectives of the participating speakers contributed to broadened views.

The panel highlighted global trends and stated that with new demands from customers and a growing number of stakeholders, forests are becoming increasingly important in the competition for land globally. Breaking down boundaries and increasing knowledge among stakeholders is crucial. The congress gathers the latest research and innovations from around the world to present effective solutions for a sustainable future of forests.

The participants agreed that the IUFRO World Congress offers a chance to set the tone for future dialogue by introducing the latest research, new perspectives and business models from all regions of the globe.
