New digital PhD course in academic writing

Published: 27 January 2022

In the spring, a new PhD course on academic writing will be held by the SLU University Library. The course is digital only and is aimed at doctoral students from all of SLU.

Do you want to be more confident in your academic writing in English? Do you sometimes wonder how you can develop smart strategies to manage your writing process? And do you want more control over of how your texts are perceived? Sign up for the course ”Academic writing and text awareness” (3 HEC), which is given for the first time in the spring semester of 2022.

The course is digital only and aimed at doctoral students from all of SLU. A major part of the course work is done individually, but Zoom lectures and discussions are also included. To give participants time for reflection and independent work without time pressure, the course is given over 9 weeks (20 %) starting on the 4th of April.

The purpose of the course is to help participants develop sustainable and successful writing strategies, understand academic texts as a genre and provide tools for approaching the writing traditions of their own discipline in a structured way. The course also includes a part about feedback and peer-review.

The course is given by the Centre for Academic Language at the SLU University Library.
