Changes to management spring 2020

Published: 22 November 2019

Next semester will see some organisational changes to the Vice-Chancellor’s Management Group.

’I’m currently looking at the delegations of authority in place today and how they fulfil my support needs’ explains Vice-Chancellor Maria Knutson Wedel. Definitions of new areas of responsibility are underway, and the work is expected to be concluded at the end of December.

As part of this change, new members of the management group will be recruited to replace Pro Vice-Chancellor Erik Fahlbeck, who has decided to leave his post at the beginning of next year, and Pro Vice-Chancellor Kevin Bishop, whose period of office expires on 31 December. The assignment related to environmental assessment and research infrastructure will be re-defined, which means that Kevin Bishop will return to his role as professor later in spring once the process of new recruitment is completed.

‘The motivation for me these past four years has been working for an amazing part of an amazing university – SLU’s environmental monitoring and assessment. Our powerful combination of experts and large amounts of environmental data is an asset for the challenges society faces through Agenda 2030. I’m happy to have the opportunity to return to my “regular” role as professor of environmental assessment, and I bring with me the experience from four years of intensive cooperation with so many skilled colleagues in my role as pro vice-chancellor at a world-class university’, says Kevin Bishop.

After the holidays, Erik Fahlbeck and Kevin Bishop will both be publishing blog posts reflecting on the progress SLU has seen in their respective area during their time as pro vice-chancellors.
