Sustainable development and agroecology may become new main fields of study

Published: 25 June 2018

The NJ faculty board has decided to support a proposal to establish sustainable development and agroecology as new main fields of study at SLU.

Several courses and programmes already focus on sustainable development, and it must also be developed within all of SLU's professional programmes. The subject is connected to the SLU strategy and the skills in question are necessary for our students' future professional lives.

The LTV Faculty has the Agroecology Master's programme, and the students have requested that their qualifications should state more clearly that they have studied agroecology. There is also an increased international interest in teaching and research within the subject. The main field of study will be at Master's level.

Following a proposal from the vice-chancellor, the SLU Board will decide on the main fields of study for general qualifications this autumn.
