Kick-off workshop for FORMAS project in Cairo

The FORMAS project on urban sprawl recently held its kick-off workshop, hosted by the Arid Land Agricultural Studies and Research Institute (ALARI) in Cairo.

The project (The Dynamics of Urban Sprawl: Land-use Changes, Food Supply & Sustainable Agricultural Production Systems in the Arid & Semi-arid Zones) is run by Carl-Johan Lagerkvist and Assem Abouthatab who attended the kick-off held March 5-7. 

The workshop was co-organized and hosted by the Arid Land Agricultural Studies & research Institute (ALARI), Faculty of Agriculture, Ain Shams University which is the project’s local partner in Egypt. The objective of the workshop was to officially launch the project activities in Cairo, discuss the scientific and administrative aspects of the project, and plan the agenda for the ongoing year.

During the workshop, an agreement of cooperation was signed between SLU represented by Carl-Johan and Ain Shams University represented by its president Dr. Abdelwahab Ezzat.
