Increased efforts for global development

Published: 29 September 2016

The NJ faculty board has decided to invest SEK 400,000 in 2017 to increase support for the internationalisation of research in the field of global development.

The NJ Faculty's committee on global development has a mission to monitor this field on behalf of the faculty, prepare matters and suggest special actions to support activities. The committee consists of senior researchers with a broad involvement in projects with a global perspective. The committee cooperates with SLU Global, acting as an important link between this unit and the faculty's departments and research group.

During the period 2013–2016, the committee has organised calls for applications for funds to increase the faculty's involvement in internationalisation projects. The calls have been for so-called tag-along projects, with the express purpose of widening the faculty's skills base in global development. This is done by funding projects that allow researchers at the faculty to widen their skills by joining on-going projects or existing networks. So far, the calls have resulted in funding of 16 projects with a total budget of SEK 897,000.

The faculty board has now decided to invest a further SEK 400,000 in 2017 to support increased internationalisation of research in global development.
