Let's talk science! Getting out of the trenches - A new understanding of the forest debate

internal events | seminars, workshops |

Klara Härgestam, PhD student in rhetorical science research at Örebro University, talks about her research on the forest debate and people's different relationships to the forest.

Through field visits with forest owners, representatives in the forestry industry and people committed to protecting forests, Klara Härgestam examines how relationships to the forest affects positions on forestry issues as well as the public debate. This includes identity, polarization and nuance in conversations.

Also joining us are Göran Ericsson, Dean of the Faculty of Forest Sciences, and Anna-Lena Axelsson, coordinator with the programme for forest-based environmental analyses. Both have extensive experience of being in the hot seat of the forest debate. The conversation is chaired by Isabella Hallberg-Sramek, researcher at the Department for Forest resource management.

Let's talk science! is a seminar series initiated by the Faculty of Forests sciences to encourage scientific dialogue at SLU. Do you have a topic that you would like to discuss with your collegues at the faculty? Please, send your suggestion to annika.mossing@slu.se
