How can we understand workplace conflicts?

internal events |

The equal opportunities committee at the NJ Faculty arranges a lecture with Urban Sandén from the Leadership Development Unit (GHAL) here at SLU. The committee’s chairperson, vice dean Marina Queiroz will introduce the event.

More about the lecture

Far from all conflicts are bad and can often contribute to the long-term development of both individuals and organisations. By conflict in working life, however, we usually mean conflicts that have developed in a negative direction. These conflicts often create large amounts of frustration for everyone involved and often tend to grow over time. Therefore, it becomes important to handle workplace conflicts at an early stage, so that they do not take unnecessarily energy and creativity from the organisation nor create ill health in individuals.

Questions that will be addressed are for example:

  • What is a workplace conflict?
  • How can I understand and interpret workplace conflicts?
  • How can I relate to workplace conflicts?
  • How do I react when I meet people with opinions/needs that clash with mine?
