May 21 the Swedish Forest Agency along with Stiftelsen Skånska landskap and SLU, arranged an excursion on the theme of continuous cover forestry in beech forests.
Most beech forests in Sweden are self-rejuvenating. But methods may be perceived as continus cover. During the excursion participants discussed how terms like CCF and continuity forests can be applied specifically to beech forestry.
Said Emma Holmström, program director of Future Forests:
- It was a productive day with a lot of sharing of knowledge between researchers, government bodies, certification bodies, forestry practitioners and those who use beech wood in their products. I like that we're able to strengthen the applied research we need to strengthen the sustainable development of our societies.
