News in brief from Faculty Board Meeting on 12 December

Below is a summary of the key decisions made at the Faculty Board meeting on 12 December. This was the last meeting of the year, and the last with the current Faculty Board.

Recruitments

The board decided on the recruitment of a professor. All recruitments are subject to approval by the Vice-Chancellor.

Professor

The Faculty Board decided to initiate the recruitment of a professor in the subject area of (preliminary) bioenergy - technology and systems. The subject area is a consolidation of bioenergy technology and parts of another subject area at the department, which today has wide-ranging activities in systems studies of food and energysystems.

Senior lecturer

The board decided to start the recruitment of a senior lecturer in the subject of microbial biotechnology at the Department of Molecular Sciences.

Associate senior lecturer

The board also decided to start the recruitment of an associate senior lecturer in agrarian history at the Department of Urban and Rural Development.

Grants for statistical consulting

Teachers at the Department of Energy and Technology teaches in and offers statistical consultancy to SLU employees. During the period 2021-2024, the department received a grant of SEK 500,000 per year to maintain and develop its activities. Also in 2025, the department will be allocated grants (SEK 550,000) to support statistical support and consultancy. The activities are considered valuable to the faculty and the board will review a more long-term solution next year.

Grant for agricultural field research

The newly established program for agricultural field research will start on 1 January 2025, and the Faculty board has now decided on a grant for the program for the years 2025-2029. In 2025, the program will be allocated SEK 1.4 million, and in the years 2026-2029 approximately SEK 2.8 million annually, i.e. the equivalent of a basic grant to a subject area at the NJ Faculty. An evaluation of the program will be carried out by spring 2029 at the latest.
