On the other side of the Gullmarsfjord, the Institute of Marine Research started the new year with a kick-off in Fiskebäckskil and with an eye on the (construction) site in Lysekil.

The theme was "We are We" with the aim of counteracting the feeling of "Us against Them" in the workplace. The focus was on creating a common picture of who we are, what we do and how our business is connected. The staff also worked with exercises on values and norms to create a strong "We".

During a team work session where the staff discussed values - their own values but also common values - the following values topped the list:

  • Respect
  • Cooperation
  • Curiosity
  • Support
  • Equality
  • Responsibility
  • Joy
  • Trust

The process of first reflecting on your own and then discussing which values are important to everyone was a winning concept and a good learning process.

But that wasn't all. The staff also took the opportunity to dream their way to their dream workplace. With the help of "Menti", all ideas, dreams and visions were documented.

This Kick-off was a great way to start off the new year. Together we will now implement what we came up with. A milestone in 2024 will also be when we move into our newly renovated and larger premises in Lysekil – something we are all looking forward to, says Peter Utgenannt, head of division at the The Institute of Marine Research.
