Let’s breathe life into the academic conversation

Published: 24 October 2022

The academic conversation has dwindled during the pandemic. The Faculty of Forest Sciences is therefore starting the seminar series Let's talk science! with the aim of encouraging lively conversation about research, interpretations and results. The main target groups are researchers and environmental analysts.

"We want to create opportunities for researchers to meet, exchange ideas and thoughts and discuss their research with colleagues. The pandemic's webinars have their advantages, but perhaps we have become a little too comfortable in our home offices, which invite more passive participation and multitasking", says Pernilla Christensen, vice dean at the Faculty of Forest Sciences.

The plan is that Let's talk science! will cover the entire faculty and be open to researchers and environmental analysts from all faculties at SLU as well as other universities and research institutes.

"We will try different formats to find out what works best, but the overall aim is to offer constructive conversations about research. We believe there is value in meeting face to face, so we will start on 9 November on site in Umeå", says Pernilla Christensen and urges all colleagues to come, listen and discuss.
