August T Larsson Guest Researcher Programme

Published: 24 February 2021

For just over a month, the call for the August T Larsson guest research program has now been open. Marnie Hancke, who is secretary of the committee, says that the number of applications has fallen in recent years.

– It is a pity that our institutions do not use the opportunity to fund a guest researcher to a greater extent, as the program's ambition is to be generous and attractive. Of course, the pandemic has affected or even made it impossible for granted stays in 2020 and will probably also affect in 2021, but there will be some time after that.

Nominate - but not just men to August T Larsson

Another challenge that the committee wants to highlight is that it is proposed to get female researchers to the guest researcher program, but a targeted call is not in line with August T Larsson's will.

– The question of how we can get more proposals for female researchers to visit SLU within the framework of the program has been discussed lively within the committee, says Gulaim Seisenbaeva who is chairman of the committee.

– We would like to admit as many women as men to the program, but we are of course dependent on the applications received in our selection. So I would strongly encourage all of NJ's departments to nominate a female visiting researcher for the program.

The call is open until April 16.
