Aquatic Resources establishes itself on Campus Ultuna

Published: 23 December 2021

The Department of Aquatic Resources is now prepared to establish itself on Campus Ultuna. "It is gratifying that we can now move into Campus Ultuna and be among other departments and close to our faculty. Above all, we want to be where the students are, which gives a completely different opportunity for contact and dialogue with students who are interested in our activities," says Noél Holmgren, Head of The Department of Aquatic Resources.

"We still need to be close to water in our operations. The campus establishment and our near-water establishments are complementary environments that will support environmental analysis, research and education. In addition to students at undergraduate and advanced level, there are also doctoral students, grants office and other research support," says Noél Holmgren.

"Initially, about 25 employees will move in, which includes one professor, lecturers, researchers, doctoral students, environmental analysis-specialists, environmental analysts and employees from the administration. There will also be access to flexible workplaces for employees from other parts of our department. Parts of the Department's and the Coastal Laboratory's management are also included."

The move-in will take place gradually next year and the timetable has not yet been fully set.
"Now working groups will jointly develop proposals on how to use and possibly adapt our intended premises. What are the needs of office space and how do we want our laboratories and other resources to be designed?"

"We, as everyone else in society, are affected by the pandemic and follow the applied recommendations, for example with the possibility of home work. The positive effects of flexible working life, such as digital meetings, that we were used to before the pandemic, will be further developed," says Noél Holmgren.
