Updated Word templates

Published: 11 January 2021

Our Word templates are being updated to ensure that they can be used to create pdf files that meet the accessibility criteria.

As most of you probably know, stricter accessibility requirements now apply to the websites of public authorities. This also applies to pdf files published on our websites.

Many pdf files are created from Word files, which in turn are based on one of the SLU templates for Word. These templates have now been updated to ensure that they can be used to create pdf files that meet the most important accessibility criteria.

The new templates will be available on all standard SLU computers as of 20 January.

Make sure you use the new templates

Many of us probably use an existing document, rather than a template, when we create new texts. Make sure you use the new templates when they are available, otherwise you risk producing files that do not meet the accessibility criteria.

Reduced number of templates

In connection with this update, some templates will be retired. One example is the letter template, as it is just as easy writing a letter using the general template.

There will be an instruction for how to use the remaining templates for other kinds of documents, like what to do if you use the general template to write a memo.

Expect more news on templates during the semester, as some of them will be moved to Public 360, our information management system, in connection with the upgrade taking place during the first half of 2021.
