Large demand for courses in statistics

As the demand for courses in statistics is great, there are several new courses in statistics are offered during the academic year 2019/2020. Two new single subject courses in statistics for undergraduate students are given during the fall of 2019 and the spring of 2020 is the starting point for the new 3-year schedule for the Ph.D statistics courses, the courses included are Statistics I through IV and Statistical methods.

This autumn a record number of SLU Ph.D. students are attending our statistics courses. The course Statistics I: Basic Statistics starts in October in Ultuna and has 50 registered students, the course Statistics III: Regression analysis is given at the same time in Umeå with 7 Ph.D students attending. The course Statistics III: Regression analysis was given earlier this year with 34 registered students in Ultuna. In the schedule for this falls Ph.d courses also includes Multivariate statistics in Umeå and Statistics II: Experimental design and analysis of variance in Ultuna.

The two single subject courses in statistics for undergraduate students at SLU, that are given for the first time this fall, aims to prepare the students for using data analysis in their Bachelor or Masters thesis. The courses Statistics A: Basic Statistics and Statistics B: Regression analysis and analysis of variance have 23 respectively 15 students registered.

-Statistics IV: Generalised linear models, Ny kurs
