Published: 09 August 2019

On 31 July 2019, the Department of Economics organized- in collaboration with the Central Laboratory for Agricultural Climate at the Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation- a workshop on "Stakeholders perspectives" on climate-induced changes in the local economic bases, food insecurity and population dynamics in Egypt". The workshop is part of the research activities of an ongoing research project funded by the Committee on Global Affairs at SLU.

The workshop brought together 45 experts from diverse disciplines and sectors who are working in areas related to climate change, food security and migration in Egypt. The workshop aimed to define research gaps, needs and priorities in relation to "Climate Change", "Food Security" and "Migration" and to articulate a research agenda that links the different aspects of these components. In addition, the workshop provided a sound platform to develop a research network among the participants with the aim to prepare and submit grant proposals for relevant upcoming calls for proposals by Swedish and European funding agencies
